Grandma Strong: A systematic, process-oriented way to reach your Grandma’s Goals.
Grandma Strong is an 8 Week, 8 Session strength course is designed specifically for those looking to peak for a big performance come Grandma’s Weekend. By blending exercises focused on general strength, injury prevention, and running efficiency, we aim to help you attain (and hopefully exceed!) your Grandma's Marathon weekend goals you have set for yourself.
A free trial will take place on Thursday, April 18th at 6 p.m. at and the 8 paid-for courses will be the following 8 Thursday nights leading up to Grandma’s Marathon, with the final one being a last minute stretch and tune up.
Each week will systematically build toward the next with the goal of having you feel fresh, strong and springy on race day. In the early weeks, general running-specific strength will be the emphasis to prepare your body for the stress of a full marathon. The later weeks will include lighter core-strength work and place more focus on muscle coordination, running form drills and dynamic exercises to improve running economy and leave you feeling fresh with some pep in your step at the end of your taper.
A short, easy warm-up run immediately before the session is recommended in order to have your muscles warmed up and ready for the exercises.
